The neighborhood gopher has declared WAR on our little garden patch. A few weeks ago we noticed he was eating cucumbers off the vine, just sitting there munching down… we would go out and run him off… and no sooner are we in the house, he’s back out there chowing down! But after we woke up one morning to find that he had eaten ALL of the leaves off the watermelon plant I had my fill of the critter and his free-loading….

So I posted on my face book page and asked my friends for ideas to keep him at bay (ideas that didn’t include a pellet gun… my first thought I must admit!) I got some good suggestions… pepper flakes, cat litter, moth balls… someone even suggest that WE move (ha ha Joe!) So, I put some cat litter out… he laughed at it and stole a pepper off the plant… I put out pepper flakes… he gave me the middle paw while munching down on the cucumber leaves… SO, I put out moth balls… and in 2 days he has stayed about 20 feet away from the garden patch… we now wait and see if he moves on down the street… I’ll let you know who wins the next battle…
To those that don’t know me too well might think that this blog title means there’s going to be tiny little feet running around our house soon, and you’d be half right … and those that do know me will know that this means that those tiny little feet are actually paws! A dear friend ours came home from trip to Texas to find the little kitten (of about 9 months) she left in the care of her husband and 3 sons was prego! I’m not saying her husband is to blame, in his defense those 3 sons are a handful!! She let me know that if we were ready to be kitty parents again we had first pick of the litter… well, as it turns out I might have been the hold up all this time for us to jump into pet parent-hood. Mike has all for it! So I told her that we would claim 2 of the little bundles when they made their appearance… then we waited for them to be born… April 19th around 5 in the evening I got the first text that the little ones were on the way!
